The Slav Epic
The Slav Epic is a monumental artistic production dedicated to the history of Slavs and their ancient culture. It took 18 years to a celebrated Art Nouveau artist Alfons Mucha to create this cycle of historical scenes that are inspired by Slavic mythology and history of the Czech nation. The author had made study visit to Russia, Poland, Serbia and Bulgaria to fully capture the essence of Slav peoples’ everyday lives. The author donated the sequence of the canvases to the Czech people.
You can visit Mucha´s cycle in the castle of Moravský Krumlov from April to October. Thanks to the advantageous location of Moravský Krumlov the exposition is easily accessible from Brno, Vienna and Bratislava.
